LATEST ADMIT DATE FOR UC SCHOOLS 2021 VS 2020

As many of you already are aware, UC Schools received more applications last cycle. What is most surprising is that the uptick in Out of State/Int'l Applications was 44%, adding 28,000 more admissions, or 40% more than the previous year. Well, how could that be? At 4 UC schools, they just opened the floodgates for out-of-state applicants and let them in at twice or three times the In-state admit rates. The very worst offender was UC Irvine who admitted Out of State applicants at a ridiculous 74% rate compared to 20% for in-state (3.5 times higher rate). For Int'l students the admit rate at UCI was almost double at 38% vs. 20%.

I personally have a huge problem with this because the charter of UC schools is supposed to be to educate In-State Californians first. Secondly, these are supposed to be non-profit State schools so they should NOT be trying to make bank on all the Out of State and Int'l Applicants who have to pay 3 Times the Tuition rate to get in. Do you agree? There is a high level of hypocrisy here with the whole UC college system.

The other thing is that I don't like their flip-flop policies with regards to standardized testing. Why? I don't think they have a streamlined holistic process to evaluate 203,700 applications. What this means is that at schools like UCD, UCI, UCSD, and UCSC, many In-state BIPOC, Low-income students were passed over for Out-of-State/Int'l students who were willing to pay 3 times the tuition rate. There was no holistic process for those In-state applicants, they most likely had to enroll into the bottom of the barrel Riverside and Merced, or CalState schools or Community College.

When CA has 40 million residents and 16-17 million of them are Hispanic/LatinA, I'm frankly surprised that they don't create a LatinA centric campus- 10th UC-College that caters to 40% of the population teaching all classes in Spanish.
