Applying with a major
Answered

Originally, I thought I wanted to major in psychology but now I'm leaning towards pre-med (so maybe a major in biology instead). But, I'm already a junior and had a few extracurriculars in psychology (nothing major/ no awards or anything) and I don't know how much time I have left to do something in biology. Would it be more beneficial for me to apply as a psych major? Would that increase my chances of getting into a school (since I already have that background) or does it really not matter?

It would benefit you more to apply as a psych major. Demonstrating a passion for your intended major is important - this is called developing a spike. Putting down psychology as your intended major will also not harm your chances of becoming a pre-med student in any way. Pre-med students can major in anything, and in fact, the biology major and pre-med pairing is so common that med schools give a boost to people who do not fit the mold. Hope this helps!
