Copy and pasting the same essay for different majors
Answered

Hello, I'm applying as a film production major for my first choice and Creative Producing as my second choice. The Common App asks the same question, "Please tell us about your interest in the major you selected" for both majors. Would it be okay if I just copy and pasted the same essay if it perfectly states why I want to be in that major? I talked about wanting to create film, which can be done in both majors.

Hi @iwishiweresane! You should be able to use a good portion of your essay for both prompts, but I would recommend you try to make the one for Creative Producing a bit more specific. Like @JessBenn said, you may be producing other things outside of movies, so try to include some details about why that excites you, how you want to express yourself through different media, etc. Good luck!

You should be good to use the same essay, at most I would say add some lines producing more than just movies, odds are you'll be working on anything from music videos to commercials with a job like creative producer.
