My freshman year was spent while in lockdown. I was averaging around C for my grades. I am now sophomore and am getting straight A's with my lowest grade being a 97%. I know that those grades will affect my overall GPA, but will colleges have a little grace with those bad grades, especially considering the way my grades rose when we returned to in-person learning?
I was in the exact same boat. COVID affected my grades tremendously. The good thing about the pandemic was that it happened to everyone. Universities are aware of it. The CommonApp has an additional information section where you can explain the bad grades. And you're showing an upward trend in grades which will also help.

Same girl I had to struggle my way through geometry through COVID and it was not a pretty sight. I got my lowest grade EVER, a D. I think they'll take quarantine into consideration.
