What IB Grade do I need to Maintain to keep my GWU admission
Answered

Hi everyone! I was recently admitted ED I to George Washington University. On the acceptance letter, they put that my admission and scholarships are contingent on my successful completion of my course. Now, I’m an IB student in the DP program. My question is what score do I need to get on my final IB report out of 45 to keep my admission? Whenever I try finding it online, I just find pages on GW’s website stating which IB grades can be converted to credits.

Thanks!

Hi @Nick_gigante22!

I wouldn't be too stressed about this. Colleges can sometimes rescind admissions if a student's grades plummet far below what they had while applying (think going from As to Cs). However, this is pretty rare. I would focus on making sure you pass the rest of your required courses for the IB diploma, and as long as there isn't an eyebrow-raising disparity (you go from As to "barely passing"), you should be fine.

If the exact number out of 45 is not written anywhere on the GWU website, I think the best thing to do is to reach out to the admissions office either email or phone. Ask them what their expectations are for your final IB report.

In general I would think that a final score in the 35-39 which is the slightly above the mean passing grade for IB awarded diplomas. I think about 26% had this score range in 2021.

Good luck.
