Why Major Essay Inquiries
Answered

So my question is that in "why major" essays, is it good/bad to mention how your parents' jobs influenced you? Personally, I wanted to pursue a biochemistry major because my dad has a Ph.D. in the same field, so I talk about how his work made me want to be a scientist. I also talked about an internship experience and how that finalized my decision to pursue my major. I wanted to know if the part about my dad holding a Ph.D. was necessary.

Hey, I don’t really know if my advice is going to be helpful but I think you should mention your dad’s influence. I personally think that’s interesting and I think mentioning his role and his influence in your choose of career will help you. I think the colleges care about his influence on you and how he inspired you but also you should expand on that topic into your interest.

Good luck <3
