SAT optional

Hi! I am trying to decide whether to apply test optional to schools where my SAT score was below their average (BU, Northeastern, NYU, etc). I am planning on majoring in English and got a 760 on the reading/writing portion of the SAT, but the math section tanked my score. Would it be helpful to submit my score since my reading/writing score was high, or is it better for me to apply test-optional. Thanks!

If you took the SAT multiple times, Do the schools you want to apply to have super scoring options, where they combine the two highest portions from each test?

If your grade is decently high with a superscore, you should submit it!

If not, I would recommend taking advantage of test optional. Not submitting your SAT will not effect your chances of admissions, so it won’t be too big of a deal. Besides, I’m sure there is much more to your application than the score from a 4 hour test you took.
