Late Letter of Rec

Hi! One of my teacher's hasn't submitted their letter of rec for my Columbia application (due in 2 days!) and it's been impossible for me to contact them as it's currently Winter Break and teachers aren't really checking their emails. Does Columbia have a grace period for letters of recommendation?

Hello!

Yes! Columbia does have a grace period for letters of recommendation (and general supplemental materials such as transcripts and school reports). So, don't worry about your teacher's letter of recommendation. What you cant submit late, is your full application and writing supplemental, so be sure to submit those in time :)

Best of luck!

I can't find anything specific to Columbia, but most of the information that I've found online through articles about late teacher recs and question forums like Quora say that it's okay if the recommendations are a bit late. As long as your portion of the application is on time, you should be okay. Some teachers also procrastinate just like students do, so have a little bit of hope in them. If they never turn in the recommendation and you still can't contact the teacher, you can always contact the college and explain your situation in order to see what the next step would be. I hope that your recommendation comes in on time and that you get into Columbia!
