I am a sophmore currently, and besides taking culinary and hospitality, i could use some guidance. Any tips, tricks, facts could be of assistance.
Since very few high schools offer classes in cooking, I think the best course of action for you is start working in a good restaurant this summer. You are going to start at the bottom you will get valuable exposure to what all the roles and responsibilities are in a thriving kitchen. The key thing is to get a job in the best restaurants you can possibly find in your town or nearby zip codes. Why? Because a Chef's line in a fine dining establishment is run different than your town Applebees or Olive Garden.
If you want to be a excellent chef, you should aim to get accepted into the Culinary Institute of America CIA. There is the original one in Hyde Park, NY north of Poughkeepsie,NY and on in northern California. Either one is great but the original one is better.
For your ECs, you can start a YouTube channel or TikTok channel for cooking and try to get XXXXXX followers. If you cook as your passion and hobby, it's important to show evidence of that and have proof you know what your doing.
For summer reading, I recommend reading Anthony Bourdain's kitchen confidential. You can buy that on Amazon or check it out at your local library.
Good luck.

Depending on where you are at, you may have a vocational school that teaches Culinary Arts, and if so, you could talk about concurrent enrollment with your counselor, but I agree with what was said. If there aren't any vocational schools that you can attend, try working at a restaurant. Maybe you could get tips that will help you. Good luck!
