Hi! I've applied to several different unis across the US as an international transfer student. I currently live in East Africa. 2 of my unis (Penn State and Rutgers) have given me offers, however the rest of the universities I have applied to haven't sent me anything.
In order for me to actually be allowed to come to the US as a student, I need to apply for an F-1 Visa, which needs several forms from the uni I choose to commit to.
However, to get an American visa in the country I am currently living in, is a bit difficult at the moment, as most interview dates for the visa are in 2023, unless I have an actual university I want to commit to. The process of me applying for the visa, doing the interviews and waiting for the actual visa can take up to 5-6 months, and will likely eat into my fall semester.
That is the context for the following question:
Would I be allowed/would it be acceptable for me to email universities I have applied to, asking about the decision they have made or when I can expect it because of the above situation?
I would start by reaching out the admissions office for those schools to see if they offer F-1 Visa assistance or if they can expedite your process. I think many international students are going through the same things right now so I would speak to the schools to see what they can offer outside of trying to go through the appropriate US government agencies! Wish you the best of luck!
Congratulations on your acceptances! It makes sense you haven't heard from most of your schools - usually schools release their decisions in mid or late March (and sometimes early April). If you Google your various universities, you can probably find out when those decisions will come out or at least when they came out last year. You're also definitely welcome to email a question along to admissions officers at your various schools. However, the reality is that they probably haven't made their final decisions yet. And even if they do plan to accept you, they are likely not allowed to share that information ahead of time. Best of luck with your remaining decisions!

I think is a really good question, and a common hardship, I hope you make it
