Extracurriculars Advice
Answered

Hello! Currently, I am a high school sophomore and I am interested in studying psychology in college. I want to volunteer at a mental health facility or possibly something similar to that, but a lot of the places near me don't accept volunteers that are sixteen. What can I try to do instead? Please let me know, thank you :)

You could see if there’s a Psychiatrist that will let you shadow them. I’m interested in psych as well and thats what I’m gonna be doing for the next few months :) it’s not exactly volunteering but it will get you valuable experience.

If not, you could try volunteering for a mental-health advocacy group maybe? I think there may be some online that accept virtual volunteering.

Or peer counseling works / mentoring. You could explain how you helped the emotional/psychological growth of students etc etc. It also looks good for colleges. Hope this helps !
