Can YouTube count as an EC?Answered
I've been thinking of starting a channel and was wondering if it could count as an extracurricular. It is related to the major that I want to go in (so it's not some generic gaming channel). If it could count, what would be a good subscriber count? I am a Freshman so I do have time before actually applying to colleges.

Yes it does count as an ec! Under extracurriculars on collegevine, you would put it as a “hobby” and it would be ranked tier 2C. I don’t think it matters how many subscribers you get necessarily but if you could get up to 1k subscribers / views (to get verified/monetized) I think that would be impressive :)
Yes! In fact, many colleges will ask if you do have an online presence and if you would like to submit it to be included in your application (at least in my experience).

Yes! Along to what @amy45339 said, if you can get a good following from 1-10k it would look amazing. Following your passion while impacting other interested people can be an amazing way to show dedication and advocacy for your passion. Remember though, getting subscribers on YouTube can be hard, so keep going until you reach your goal. Good luck!
