I plan to major in business administration and finance in college and I'm conflicted about which college to choose. UNC has a higher ranked undergraduate business school, but BU has more opportunities for internships and more networking opportunities. I love the idea of studying in Boston, but at the same time, UNC is cheaper. I want to explore new things in college, but value career success more. Which school should I choose?
Also, for reference, BU would cost me around 30k/year (I got a 50k scholarship) and UNC would cost me 24k/year.
I don't know what undergraduate Business school rankings list you use but I like "poets and quants" which is a portal just about business schools. I wouldn't use USNews rankings list.
In their latest 2022 rankings, the BU Questron School is ranked 13th and the UNC Flagler School is 20th.
Not only is BU ranked higher by peers I think when it comes to summer internships/jobs over the next 3 summers, you will find more opportunities in Boston and nearby CT, NY, NJ than you will in the Triangle in NC. There are tons of mutual fund companies and consulting firms and start ups in Boston. Wall Street in NYC and plenty of energy trading companies and hedge funds in CT.
Saving $500 a month IMO is not good enough of a reason to pick UNC. You can make up the $6000 difference with a good paid internship in Boston.
I would also look at the % of graduates placed in to jobs and starting salaries as well.

Good luck.
