I'm a sophomore right now and I could exactly find answers online. One of my stem teachers is retiring this year and he teaches a subject I was suggested to get a letter of recommendation from.
I doubt anyone has had this problem but it would be helpful to get some answers.
Idk. People either are jealous or the questions answer is obvious. Neither are for me tho
You can get a recommendation from anyone at your school whether it's the janitor, the lunch lady or your coach. It could be teacher that is retiring as well as long as they can advocate for you because they taught you at one point.
I think there is a great deal of misleading information about teacher's recommendations. Colleges want to read something "fresh" and "interesting" about you that is not evident in the rest of your Common App.
Sometimes getting a teacher recommendation from your AP Chemistry teacher is not very useful because they are writing 25 recommendation for other high achieving students. Why would one think that your recommendation out of 25 would be the outlier that sets you apart from the rest of your peers? Chances are it would not.
Therefore its far better to curate a recommendation from someone who knows you best, your best strength, your best human qualities if you want admissions officers to positively react and advocate for you to the admissions committee.
Good luck.

Why did the question get downvotes? It's completely fine with me.
