Can I use this as an EC?
Answered

Hello! I have been trying to get a better list of extracurriculars and was wondering if it was possible to list the following, or if there was any way to mention this in a college application.

I was accepted into a Cornell and Syracuse Precollege program (both based off applications, rec letters, etc.) but I was unable to attend either of the programs due to financial reasons.

I know there is a section on the Collegevine extracurricular page that permits you to list a "paid summer program requiring an application," but I don't know if this counts if you didn't actually attend. Instead of attending these, I opted for going with a program at UC San Diego which doesn't require an application or high tuition fees.

If it isn't possible to list these acceptances on my extracurriculars, is there another area on a college application where I can mention this? Is it even worth anything?

I really would have loved going but unfortunately it was really expensive for me (Cornell was near $10,000)

You could mention these acceptances in the Awards section of your applications. Be sure to mention the purpose of the programs and their acceptance rates in your award descriptions. Hope this helps!
