Hey! so I want to major in the business field, but I feel like there aren't a lot of business ECs available. My school has FBLA and I'm part of it, I'm going to be president next school year (2022-23, I'm gonna be a Senior), and during the summer I have a marketing internship at a marketing agency in my city, but I believe I should be doing more but I feel like business ECs are very limited, does anyone have any good ideas?
Hello! Business is a great field to major in. DECA is a business/entrepreneurship competition that lets you compete in several related categories. If you want to go to the next level, you could start a DECA club and bring people together to prep for competitions.
LaunchX is also a viable option for a business EC. It's a program that is targeted toward entrepreneurship-minded students. You learn about startups and even create and market your own business idea.
One high-tiered activity is starting your own business. You could make products or even start a nonprofit targeted toward one of your areas of interest. Starting your own business shows initiative and creativity towards colleges. You could also invest in multiple companies and maybe start an Investors Club at your school.
Your marketing internship is very great! Keep up the great work!
Here are some ideas for clubs:
Business Professionals of America.
Economics Club.
Entrepreneurship Club.
Future Investors Club.
Investment Club.
School Store.
Stock Market Club.
Wall Street Club.
Business is risky, keep in mind
I would suggest that you see if your district has anything relating to DECA or NFTE. There is also the National Economics Challenge. If you really want to do more you could create a start-up, business blog or anything self-driven that is related to business. Other than that you could try to have your school host a chapter for the National Business Honor Society.
