Research

Hi, I want to start participating in research products starting Sophomore year.I’m starting high school this fall but I’ve seen videos of people listing research in their extracurriculars list. I don’t want to do it just to get into a good school, though, but to explore the world of research and see what the environment and community would be like. I live in Georgia and want to find opportunities like that-wether virtually or physically-that will possibly lead to a personal project by senior year. I want to dabble in something psychological or comp-sci related. (Not sure if including my state will violate guidelines, but not my intent)

I recommend starting your personal project now rather than in senior year. Self-directed research is an opportunity that you can pursue immediately - and it will look great on your extracurricular list. After you have worked on your project for a while, your experience will make you a more attractive applicant to research programs. Hope this helps!
