Is this going to be an issue when applying to college? Should I consider changing my desired major?

Hi, I’m a junior and want to major in political science however I took AP lang and AP Macro and got a B in both. I found these classes to be very difficult. I also didn’t take the AP exam for both. However, I did get an A in the rest of my classes, which included mostly honors classes and AP Comparative Government, AP US Government, AP Environmental, AP Psychology. I took the test for only these 4 AP’s. Overall, my unweighted GPA, is pretty high(3.95).

Next year as a senior, I plan on taking just AP Statistics and AP US History which I know I will get an A on.

You shouldn't worry about a future major and your performance in AP Lang and AP Macro. I don't think there is much correlation between those classes and your intended major. Plus college students change their major an average of 3 times prior to graduating.

Good luck.

Hi! Don’t worry about one or two classes dragging you down. You’re going to do great. Personally, I am studying political science - I almost failed AP Euro - and got a 2 on the exam. I got a 3 in APUSH. If you are truly passionate about political science, your APs along with potentially some strong field-specific extracurriculars (Model UN, StuGov) will push you to the top. Good luck, you’ve got this!

This might be or not be an issue when applying for a college but you should never change your desired major just because you got two B's in AP classes. Just work through your classes for your senior year and you should be fine.
