Should I take another year of language to get into a honor society or should I take a engineering course?

Hi, my name is Anicyah and I am currently a junior in high school.

Last week I had to choose my classes for the following year and I faced a tough time deciding whether to take another year of language or take an engineering course that my schools offer.

My counselor advised me to take Portuguese IV and enter the Portuguese honor society because it would look good on a college app; however, I am fluent in Portuguese (bilingual) and want to major in aerospace engineering.

What should I opt for? (considering that I have the opportunity to have the seal of biliteracy next year)

While the Honor Society may look great on a college app, you also don't want to waste time taking a class that you won't learn much from. Seeing as your passion is in engineering, I would take that. It'll show colleges that you have a direction, focus, and greater knowledge on a specific topic. If you want to go above and beyond, try to use your engineering skills in other matters, such as leading a club (rocketry club may be good if you want to major in aerospace engineering) or starting an independent project. Hope this helped!

Always go with your passion. Id your dream is to become and aerospace engineer than take the engineering class. The college that is right for you will definitely support that choice! Good luck!
