For senior year, instead of taking AP Calc, I decided to take AP Stats because it aligned a bit more with the majors I want to go in to (Sociology and Political Science both use a lot of statistics). So, would more competitive colleges see this as being easier, or would they look at what majors/school I intend to go into to consider it? Should I switch to be more academically rigorous or stay in a class that might be more useful for my majors? A lot of competitive colleges seem to prefer calculus, but some also say that the recommended course load depends on major.
AP Calc and AP stats are both college level courses, both challenging and both are taken into consideration. If you were applying to a science such as engineering, calculus would've been a way better choice however, admissions will take into consideration of your major, like which department you're applying to, therefore I don't think it will impact you harshly. As long as you get a good grade in that class, the college you apply to will acknowledge you did great in a college level class.
