My dream school is Yale. However, it is a big reach for me. I take academically rigorous courses and have a high weighted GPA, and a 4.0 unweighted GPA. Additionally, I take part in many extracurricular activities, majority of them being music-oriented. I am a rising junior. What can I do to make myself stand out during the admissions process?
I think you have the right mindset I think test scores can increase your chances and also make sure you have or maintain a high GPA with a rigorous schedule. Think about leadership positions within those activities. It all comes down to how you focus your application and what you want to showcase about yourself. Start brainstorming personal essay narratives and maybe learn more about Yale itself so you can be prepared for those 'why us' essays.
I hope this helps!
I think you’re on the right track! I would definitely do lots of extracurricular (in and outside of school), maintain GPA, and get good test scores. I would make sure to have a variety of extracurriculars not just music orientated ones. Like a sport or GSA or book club. And I would definitely try leadership roles in the extracurriculars too.see if you can go on college visits and open houses to get really familiar and comfortable with the school. (Even if it’s a pretty well known one like Yale)
