Common App Course Entry
Answered

On Common App under the “Profile” section and “Education” subsection, it asks you to put in all your courses. What should I enter if one of my courses is not shown? For example, I’m taking Philosophy this year, but Common App’s options do not allow me to input this.

Hi, you have to create the course from the available drop down options in the common app.

STEP 1

Course XX Subject

Select Course - So pick OTHER/ELECTIVE from the drop down choices.

STEP 2

Course XX Name

Type in the name for the course "Intro to Philosophy 301" or whatever it's called in your course catalog.

STEP 3

Course XX Level

Pick whether it's an honors class or a regular/standard class

STEP 4

Course XX Schedule

Pick whether it's a full year course or something that covers 1st and 2nd semesters or 3rd and 4th semesters

Then you are done for adding that course to your common app profile.

Good luck.

For all your 10th and 11th and rising seniors, if you go to private school or charter or magnet school, many of the courses in your schools course catalog will require some manual input like this so don't get unraveled about it, it's very simple and once you do 1, you can do the rest of them with ease.

If you're referring to the Course subject, you can list philosophy as Other/Elective. In the Course name, you just type in Philosophy.
