Would an EMR + CPR program be impressive

The summer before my senior year I plan on attending an (albeit paid) program where I get certified in CPR and EMR through my local EMS. Would this be impressive for an application and how would I show this on my application outside of possibly writing it in one of my essays?

Hi @rainbow.rumi, while it's always good to have special skills and talents, I don't think a paid program for CPR and EMR is a highly ranked extracurricular activity, perhaps a tier 3 or 4.

If you are applying to nursing school, then I think it aligns with your major and having these skills is helpful. However if they are just things you picked up for your bucket list or things you wanted to learn so you can be a lifeguard or volunteer in a hospital, I'm not sure they are super impressive.

You can certainly list this as one of your 10 extracurricular activities on the common app but I would rank toward the bottom of the 10 things.

Good luck.
