Business and/or International Relations Opportunities
Answered

I'm a rising sophomore from northern California and I'm not really sure what I want to do yet, but right now I'm exploring business and international relations. My school offers some clubs in these fields which I am likely going to join, but I was wondering if anyone knew of opportunities such as internships or projects for business or international relations. Even volunteering would be of interest to me, and I'm open to all virtual and in person opportunities.

Hi @samara , as a 10th graders, companies are not going to offer internships to someone as young as you unless you have a family connection that can make the introduction and vouch for your character. It is very uncommon for a 10th grader to have an internship unless their parent/uncle/cousin hooked them up.

First, I would exhaust all the clubs at my high school and see if there were any that aligned with business/international relations. Second, I would look for volunteering opportunities within my town/city either by researching all the pre-existing alliances between my high school and the city for opportunities like board positions, student representatives, or steering committee memberships. You will have to connect to the older students at your high school to see where they had their leadership positions in town and also talk to your high school counselor for some advice and direction. The 3rd thing is to see if you can find some part time work after school with some firms in town to do some basic office work. I don't know what the age restrictions on employment are in Northern California, so make sure you meet the minimum age requirements.

Good luck.
