How do I upload my letter of recommendation?
Answered

Hi! My name is Chiara and I am a rising senior.

I received a letter of recommendation from my Honors Pre-Calculus / AP Calculus AB teacher last June. I am not sure how to go about uploading the letter to my college applications. Do I ask her to upload it or do I upload it myself since I already have a copy? I plan on using the Common Application to apply if that makes any difference.

I think it would be better for the teacher to upload the LoR. There is a section on the Common App called Recommenders and FERPA, where you'll be given the options to waive/not waive your rights to see a letter of recommendation. If you waive them, colleges consider the LoR more reliable and unbiased. Since you already have the LoR, you don't even need to worry about what the LoR says.

After you complete the FERPA release authorization, you'll be able to assign recommenders for each college individually.

Regardless of the application platform, your recommender(s) is/are supposed to upload the LoR(s) unless stated otherwise.

Hope this helps.
