Can I submit this in good conscience?

At the end of 8th grade, I received a national silver medal in the scholastic arts and writing competition. This was technically before high school, but the competition allows people as young as 13 and no older than 20 to submit. Can I in good conscience submit this on my academic awards list for colleges, or not, since I wasn’t quite in high school yet?

Hi @Anonymous110

On the Common when you enter an Award or Honor you have to select the year of high school you earned this. The radial check boxes include 9th, 10th, 11th, 12th, and PG years, not 7th or 8th grades.

I would not recommend entering an award or honor you earned outside of the normal high school years.

I might however consider mentioning this if ART or WRITING is your spike activity on your add'l information section.

Good luck.
