So at first I wanted to go to law school but the expense and difficulty in case I wanted to travel or move to another country made it a less ideal option for me, so I'm currently opting for my backup (psychology). I'm currently a rising sophomore and had my classes planned out in order to give me a head start in law, but as I'm no longer doing this, I was hoping I could get some suggestions especially in recommended classes and extracurriculars relating to psych as I think my goal is to become a psychiatrist and do my own research and write papers on my findings. I plan to take AP pysch and sociology but I don't know what else to do and I want to get into a nice university like NYU or Berkeley.
my freshman year courses:
honors french 2
honors world studies ela
honors world studies history
biology
algebra 1
economics
business principles and practices
sophmore year courses:
APUSH
AP seminar
honors ela 2
geometry
algebra 2
french 3
honors chemistry
Any advice is appreciated!!
I suggest taking:
Ap Bio (since you've already taken bio)
Anatomy & Physiology (psych is equally heavy on science as much as humanities)
Communication/Debate (and other english electives)
AP seminar/AP Research (I've heard that most courses in the psych major are heavy on research and essays)
Humanities
Honors Statistics or AP Statistics (Psych is heavy on stats)
Child Development (if you're interested in child psychology)
Sociology
Psychology or AP Psychology
Taking Psychology might help you test the waters and see what you're getting into. I'm Ap Psych rn and it's a great introductory courses for psychology! Hope this helps!!

Tysm!! I've also been considering sociology, do you have any class or extracurricular suggestions for that?
