I am from India, my grades are not in GPA, and I can't make it understand the colleges; I cannot understand how I can fill these grades in the common app application. Should I calculate them in GPA? If not, my grades were 3.5 in 9th, 3.65 in 10th, 3.9 in 11th, and I am currently in 12th. Should I calculate all over average, or do I need to state current-year grade means? I need to state 11th class grades as my primary GPA, I have predicted scores too, and they are also 3.9. Will they reject me based on my 9th and 10th scores? My 10th was affected due to corona; I live in a remote area, where taking online classes was a problem.
Hello,
I am confused about what you mean by "your grade was 3.5 in 9th"; is it your GPA? What type of grade is it?
You do not need to calculate an overall average because colleges will see your transcript for each year of high school. And no, they will not simply reject you because of your 9th and 10th scores, colleges like to see an increasing trend in academic achievement and they also look at other factors such as your extracurriculars, essays, and standardised test scores. Additionally, if your 10th-grade performance was affected by COVID, you should definitely let them know in some way or another, such as in your CommonApp or Supplemental essays. Colleges will understand your hardship if you explain it well enough to them.
I know the system in India does not calculate your grades in GPA format, but they still use percentages and the A-F letter system. If you know your grades in letter form for all your subjects, you can use those letters for your corresponding courses in the GPA Calculator I have linked below. If you know your percentages in each subject, I have linked a Collegeboard page about conversion to the letter or GPA scale also below. All classes in Indian schools are generally considered regular high-school level (unless you are in IB or have specifically taken any AP classes), so hope this helps if you are trying to convert your marks to a GPA.

I hope this was helpful.
Best of luck applying!

I want to know what I must write in the column "Cumulative GPA" on the common app. Do I need to write my 11th percentage or 12th predicted percentage? If I calculate the grades by your link, then there is a problem because my grades are like A1 and A2, not A+ A A-; if I do A1=A+, A2=A, my B1 will be A-. I have only one "B" in my whole career because due to the pandemic bcz the school writes the grades of every student on their own (without any test, but I don't know what problem math tchr...
