Admissions Advice

Where in the common app can I show the online college courses I have taken?
Answered

I have taken Harvard's three computer science and one justice course on edX. I have verified certificates for each college course, but I don't know where I can show that I have taken them. This is important for me because they add up to one semester's worth of courses, which is not trivial for a high school student who also does IB. Thanks in advance!

Because they are not accredited, official classes that you will receive course credit for, they cannot be listed in the academics section with your traditional highschool classes. Instead, you can list them in the activities section, or if you don't have space there, the additional information section.

You could approach this in several ways:

1. add an additional transcript showing that you have taken these classes and the certificates.

2. add them as one additional 'activity' in the Activities section.

3. discuss them in your Additional Information as a whole and the importance to you and why you took them.

You can keep them in the activities section or the additional info section.
