Hi all, I'm a sophomore in high school and am currently thinking about joining the military. Aside from defending my country/helping others, I also like the financial and environmental security (military bases) offered when in the military. I'm unsure which branch, whether I will join fresh out of high school or after college, and haven't yet participated in any ROTC programs at my school. Other than ROTC, how can I prepare to join the military? My family is involved in a branch, so I'm used to the lifestyle and feel exploring it would be pretty smooth.
Try asking your parents and your high school counselor about this. Your high school counselor should guide you about that. Your counselor should provide you with the military programs provided with the school. Ask me if they don't work.

Thanks for replying! I've approached my parents about it, and I've been encouraged to explore my options and make final decisions when ready. Unfortunately, my school isn't of the best quality, and counselors fail to participate in official and scheduled meetings regarding academics. Nonetheless, I've received a few replies (asked this question on multiple community pages) and have more information available to me. I'll think things over, but if other questions arise, I'll be sure to ask!
