What gpa is taken into account?
Answered

I am wondering what gpa is taken into account during the admission process. For example, my current gpa is 3.72, I am taking 4 AP classes this year (senior year). I assume my weighted gpa will be increased. Will colleges take my weighted gpa from senior year into account, or only my gpa from junior year?

Hi @roxo

Both your overall unweighted GPA from 9th-11th is primary what is considered as well as your self-reported coursework for 12th grade if you are applying ED/EA. If you're applying for RD in January, then your 12th and 1st-semester grades will be considered. And if your school is on a trimester cycle, then schools might also want to see your 2nd-trimester grades reported as the mid-year report (but mostly likely 1 trimester is what they look at).

Colleges will look at your weighted GPA if your school does not report an unweighted GPA but most schools report both.

In general, your unweighted GPA on a 4.0 scale or 100.00 scale is what they consider. And if you go to a private day or boarding school, they consider your unweighted GPA on whatever scale the school uses, 6.0, 7.0, 9.0, 11 point scale.

Good luck.
