I got a B over the summer, should I explain why?
Answered

I got a B in APEX gov and pol, I am applying to UC Berkeley, Irvine, Davis, and Santa Barbara. I was working and tutoring during that time frame which meant that I had minimal time to be on zoom to take the test. Should I mention this in the additional comments section or does it sound like I'm too prideful or a perfectionist.

Hi @BRL10,

Personally, I'd leave it alone. There is nothing shameful about getting a B in a hard AP summer course. If anything, it shows that you were using your time efficiently in a productive way over the summer in addition to working a job and tutoring.

yes, would not call attention to it

however if all other grades were A, maybe your guidance councilor's letter can write a sentence or two stating the B is out of your character ,,,because you were sick with covid or something

Also with AP class, the grade in class is important ...what is more important though is the test in may whether you got a 4 or 5.

All AP classes...many take them, their value is the result of the nationwide test in May it is scored 4 to 5
