Send AP Scores or SAT to NYU?
Answered

Should I send my SAT Score (1540 - 780 in Reading & Writing, 760 in Math) or my three AP Scores (5 in Biology, 5 in World History, and 5 in Computer Science Principles) to NYU?

PS. I am applying to Stern

I don't think it matters one way or the other because NYU is test-flexible and used to evaluating applicants either way. If you want to err on the side of cautiousness, then I would always send either the SAT or ACT score before the APs just because you don't know who your reader is going to be. It could be a rookie from an IVY who is used SAT/ACT scores or someone from UChicago who is used to more holistic evaluations. The decision is yours of course

Hi @-b-b!

I would send in your SAT score, because admissions officers still generally prefer them. And even though your AP scores are "perfect," they represent a wider percentile distribution than your SAT scores. Over 10 percent of students taking the World History test, for example, got a 5; around 1 percent of students taking the SAT scored at or higher than 1540.

Hope that helps! Let me know if you have any questions.

Hi @-b-b!

You have a great SAT score and perfect AP scores, which are competitive not just for NYU, but for any school in the US. You should submit your SAT and all your AP scores. Even if the AP scores aren't really relevant to your major, they still count as academic achievements.

Hope this helps!
