Explanation and Listing of Tiers?

Hi! I see a lot of mentions of tier a, tier f, etc, but I can't seem to find the comprehensive list+explanation for this. All I can find is the old article that breaks it down into Tier 1,2,3, and 4. Could someone explain and/or link the newest ranking article? I'd like to understand the system better, thanks!

where have you seen tier f etc mentioned? Just curious- I know collegevine uses letters to divide Tier 1, 2,3,4 further eg into Tier 1a, 1b, but I haven't seen just letters being used.

oh wait the posts that mention tiers a-f are at least 2 years old... i guess that explains it. but where do I find the explanation for the Tier 1-4 being divided into letters?
