Freshman GPA
Answered

I'm a freshman in my second semester and I have an unweighted GPA of 3.5 and a weighted GPA of 3.6250 and wanted to know if that was a good GPA. And also I was wondering if GPA really matters in freshman year more than senior year. And does taking more honors classes raise your GPA?

For your question about a 3.5 unweighted GPA and a 3.625 weighted GPA being good, it really depends on the school you want to go to. For instance, if you're applying to the top universities, most applicants tend to have a higher GPA, though a small amount of admitted applicants get in even with a similar/lower GPA than a 3.5. Also, GPA does matter, but your junior/senior GPA matters more than your freshman GPA. If you aren't satisfied with your GPA, you can always improve. Showing improvement looks pretty good to colleges, at least from what I've heard. And yes, taking honors, AP, IB, and DE classes does raise your weighted GPA.
