Info about UMich Expression of Continued Interest

I recently submitted my RD application to the University of Michigan. The portal lists something called an Expression of Continued Interest form. I was a bit confused about this ECI being open for RD students with an application deadline of March 17 and a 250-word limit. UMich even sent a follow-up email about filling out this optional form. However, they also stated in the email that they had enough information from me to complete their admission decision.

How beneficial would filling this out be? I do not have any additional information to add to my application, but UMich is my dream school, and I want to take every step I can to strengthen my application as an OoS student. Should I fill out this form, what would I include in it?

I've heard a lot about UMich Expression of Continued Interest hurdle but I didn't expect it to be as influential as this.

If you have applied regular decision, there is really no need to fill out an Expression of Continued interest form. This form is largely intended for students who applied Early Action were "postponed" (UMichigan's equivalent to deferral) to the regular decision round. However, they do allow regular decision applicants to submit it, "to provide an equitable experience for all applicants who desire to send additional information after their application is completed". You can read more detail here: https://admissions.umich.edu/apply/first-year-applicants/selection-process/postponed-applicants-faq

That being said, if you don't have anything else to add to your application, don't submit the form. Admissions officers read a lot of applications and they do not appreciate redundancy. If you have completed your normal application correctly, there shouldn't be anything for you to add at this point. If something crazy (huge grade boost/drop, new test score, etc.) happens before the ECI submission deadline of March 17th, that's another story and it would be appropriate to submit.
