I am currently applying to many competitive universities as a transfer student, and I am concerned about my lack of extracurriculars. When I was in high school, I did not participate in any clubs or activities whatsoever. This is because I underestimated how important extracurriculars were for college applications, and I realized this when it was too late. I believe I am a competitive transfer applicant and have a good chance of getting accepted into a few of my dream schools, but I am concerned about my lack of extracurriculars and feel like this is my application's only weakness. My question is, what is the best course of action for me to take at this point/what are any ideas for extracurriculars that I can add to my application as a sophomore in college? Any help would be greatly appreciated!
One thing you can do immediately is attending as many events at your university as you can. Cultural societies and intramural sports are great places to start. Since these organizations are not strict about membership, simply attending their events is enough to give you an EC that you can put on your activities list. If there are any clubs that are related to your academic interests, e.g. a society for marketing majors or a French language club, join those as well to demonstrate a spike.
If you are unable to start doing activities on campus, you can do self-directed activities at home or online.
Hope this helps!
You can try for internships or you can join some NGO.
