Combining activities for the Common App
Answered

I've held multiple political campaign internships/jobs since freshman year and I don't want them to take up too much space on my Common App. Can I combine them into one entry/activity? Here is the format I've been thinking of:

Activity type: Student gov/politics

Position/leadership description: Multiple campaign internships/jobs, paid/unpaid

Organization Name: 1. (campaign 1) 2. (campaign 2) 3. (campaign 3) 4. (campaign 4)

Please describe this activity, including what you accomplished and any recognition you received, etc: 1. (campaign 1 duties) 2. (campaign 2 duties) 3. (campaign 3 duties) 4. (campaign 4 duties)

I don't know if this is normal, either. Has anyone else done this before?

Thanks!

Hi there @govpol,

You can definitely combine similar activities on the Common App. However, if your prospective major is in Government or Politics or something related, I recommend giving each relevant experience its own slot.

Instead, I would condense Community Service or related activities in another category.

Hope this helps!
