I am a slightly above average candidate overall, but UC Irvine is definitely a reach. I recently had the opportunity to apply for an online class at UC Irvine that would give me 3 college credits from the school. It's a course that involves writing a research paper (which I've done once before + had it published), but I'm still worried that it's too advanced for me. I would take the class for the experience alone, but it's 1,700 dollars towards credit for a college I may not get into and a class that may be too stressful. Any advice?
Hi @mayvv_15!
It's not worth it. Not just the stress, but $1700 for just 3 credits is a bit too expensive. You can get a lot more credits for the same amount at a community college in California. For California residents, the cost at community colleges is $46 per unit (credit). Much more worth taking courses at a community college. Just make sure you select transferable courses though.
Hope this helps!

I agree! Dual enrollment is the way to go if your high school allows it.
