Can studying something on your own count as an extracurricular?
Answered

I have decided to take my own language learning seriously after about two years of coasting. I am currently studying Russian and am looking into taking up Spanish. I am mainly studying on my own, with resources that I have found online.

Can doing this count as an extracurricular, or do I need a certificate of sorts to back this up as an extracurricular activity?

Hi @JSpeedy!

Learning a language can count as an extracurricular. You don't need a certificate to back this up. The best proof you can have is your ability to speak and understand those languages.

Hope this helps!

Yes you should use it because it will show that you are taking time to learn something outside of school. Also it shows your dedication and your passion on this issue. You don't have to have a certification in order to count it as an extracurricular.
