Hey!
So I'm in a challenging situation, I'm currently a freshman and soon a sophomore in France.
As you might expect the system here is vastly different from the US. I am doing everything I can to be eligible for college in the States but one thing I don't have access to in France is AP/IB classes which could boost my profile. I was wondering if you all had any advice for me on how to access these classes or an eventual equivalent, or any advice in general.
I'm at a loss for what to do and would greatly appreciate your advice!
Thanks again,
@epmai
Hello!
One step you can take is to self-study the AP material. And then do the exam. You can search for schools in France that offer AP exams by visiting the college board website. And then search AP course ledger. This will take you to a list of schools that offer AP exams. You can choose France as the country and it will give you the address and the AP courses they are authorized to give. Then you can contact the school and see how they can help and what they offer to students out of their school.
You can also take online courses, and mention them in your application. Or you can find online competitions that interest you. You can do anything you want that shows interest and competency (preferably in a way that can be proven). Colleges know you don't have the same resources and system an American student would have. So do your best with what you have; they will judge you based on that.
