How important is a second language in Colorado?
Answered

I'm interested in going to Colorado State and I've come to know that they'd like students going to university to typically have 2 credits (I think) worth of a second language. I was just wondering if that was super important and if I could make up for not taking the classes some way? I would greatly appreciate any input, thank you!

It is correct that CSU has a soft requirement for applicants to have two units of foreign language classes on their transcripts. The requirement is "soft" because CSU can make an exception for you.

You can explain why you did not take 2 units of a language in the "Academic Explanation” section of the CSU application. Focus on how you have made up for this deficiency and any extenuating circumstances you faced. You can find more information on this CSU page.

Hope this helps!
