So I have epilepsy and if you're unaware of what it is, it mean that I have an excess amount of electricity in my brain which causes me to have seizures. Last year I was talking to a teacher and she told me to go to the college she went to but it's not in my city and its a good idea cause 1) independence 2) I can learn to live with my condition. But here's where I'm conflicted, I'm very close to my family so I'd be scared to leave cause I'll know no one there. What should I do?
I don't have any personal experience with this (I'm still in high school), so take my advice with a grain of salt. I would recommend you go to a school out of town. College is important not just for your educational growth, but also for your social and emotional growth. This isn't to say that you can't grow while staying local, but don't let your fears of leaving your family hold you back from new experiences (you can always call and visit them). In regards to your epilepsy, I also wouldn't let that hold you back. So many people live full, independent lives while managing challenging medical conditions, I don't know the specifics of your condition, but don't let that be the reason you don't live your life to the fullest. Good luck!!
It's a tough choice and I understand how you feel. I think that you should go to a college outside the city because it will give you new experience and an opportunity to grow. You will not be alone because you will always be able to communicate with your family and make new friends. Good luck!
