Should I apply for college now?
Answered

I took the ACT back in April of 2023, I got a score of 23 with my lowest scores being 18 in Math and 21 in English. I have already applied to a few colleges that have reached out to me and offered me to apply with no application fee and no essays or scores. But the college I'm extremely interested in is Drake University. According to my chancing percentage on CollegeVine, it's one of my target schools with a 75% chance of acceptance. But, I'm still afraid of the possibility of not getting accepted. Should I retake the ACT? But if I do, I'm afraid I won't have enough time to apply to Drake since I would have to take them in December. Any advice is welcome, I just need any direction from someone who knows a thing or two about colleges and acceptance chances. Thank you!

Hey there @kc144!

I personally don't think it's worth retaking the ACT. A 75% chance is very high, especially if your GPA, course load, extracurriculars, and recommendations are on par with the school's average. Drake's average ACT score is between 25-31, so while you fall below the average, if the rest of your profile makes up for it, I wouldn't retake, especially since you have a pretty harsh time constraint.

Good luck!
