Can I get into NYU with these scores? If not, what schools that offer great law/humanaties/social sciences are can I go?

I have an unweighted gpa of 3.86

Took five ap classes during high school including:

AP psyc:5

AP lit and comp:4

AP CSA: 5

AP USA History: 4

AP Gov: 5

with two more tests/ exams that I did not take classes for:

APMicroMacro Econ:5

I have done extracurriculars such as:

Basketball: Varsity team+comp prizes

NJHS with treasurer officer spot

Investment and Econ with participation in wharton global youth investment comp with no prizes

MUN with one Best Delgate

Debate with some regional prizes and no national ones in PF

And am also in the school band club.

What universities can I get into? is NYU possible? Why are so many people saying its easy when I can only get a 20% rate of acceptance with this? Where should I be targetting?

Your GPA is above average for NYU and you show that you can excel in college-level courses- all great things! According to my own research, colleges look first at grades and activities, then decide whether or not to pursue looking further into your application. While I don't exactly know your admissions chances, I believe your grades/activities show a well-rounded student who is likely to make it past the first round of deliberation. With a strong essay, I believe you would have a pretty decent chance! Schools that offer great law/humanities/social sciences (and have higher than single-digit acceptance rates) include

I would also like to know whether taking tests only would help increase my chances. My school only offers about 15 APs with strict limitations like when you are secondary 1 you can take one course, secondary 2,2, Secondary 3/4,3. Would taking more tests be able to help me with my chances of getting into better universities like Umich or NYU?

Taking tests is good, but they only provide college credit (which is not always accepted). However, I think what you are saying is taking the tests if you have no access to taking the class. I would say go for it if you feel confident- it will only help your chances! Colleges can see how your school does AP classes and how many courses they offer, so do not worry about your AP situation being misunderstood by colleges. I think you already have a great transcript but feel free to do whatever!

Adding more clarification: taking APs you know you can succeed in is definitely recommended. (If you really struggle with English, for example, taking AP Lang/AP Lit isn't advisable unless you really work at it.) Take the APs and tests that play to your strengths, but is good to try new things! You never know what you could be great at until you try.
