Would an essay about my family being full of women (aunts, grandma, mother, sisters-kind of a matriarchy) and how they've taught me to have certain traits while dealing with the absence of a strong male presence in my household, and the profound impact the women in my family have had on me be a good topic?

YES! College essays are meant to showcase your personality and what makes you unique outside of your grades and extracurriculars. This is a very unique situation for you that not a lot of other people may be able to write about. I am confident that with proper writing, you can use this unique topic to write a strong personal essay that really showcases your personality!
