Self reported and Submitting AP scores
Answered

Hey everyone!

So I know for SAT/ACT scores you can send them before you submit your college app, but for AP scores is it better to send them when you submit your college app, or when you're accepted into the school?

If you have your AP test results, you can write them in on your Common or Coalition app. If you do not know your AP test results, you cannot submit AP scores. You can not self-report AP scores ahead of time if you do not know the results of such tests which are only given in June following the May test period. According to the responder, you can agree to send your unknown scores to the colleges on your list through Collegeboard but I would not do that unless I knew I was going to get 4 or 5s on the actual exam.

In most cases, seniors send in their AP scores only if they are above a certain score that is deemed good by the college they are applying to. If you are applying to a school where they only give AP credit for 5s, not for 4s or 3s, then it's up to you if you want to submit your 3s and 4s. A state college might give AP credit for 3s, so you might want to submit 3s, 4s, and 5s to that school. Good luck.
