How can I 'spice up' my college apps?
Answered

I am a freshman in high school right now, and I was wondering what I could do to "spice up" my college apps. I'm going to take 11 APs and 2 Honors courses, so I'm mostly set in that regard, but I want to get into MIT and Harvard and I know coursework alone isn't enough. I'm trying out for basketball (and a handful of other sports in future years) and I also have a bunch of other extracurriculars and know a few clubs I want to join next year. What else can I do?

i know people say this a lot, but showing initiative in the field that you're interested in really goes a long way. try joining (or making) a club/organization that is well-known to be good regarding your intended major or that combines your passions. as a freshman i don't think you really need to worry too much as of now, but building a good base for yourself (joining clubs and actively participating and showing initiative in those clubs to, in a sense, "secure" a leadership position would be a good idea.) -- join things you're interested in and make sure to have some fun!

good luck with everything!
