My situation when it comes to applying to colleges is kind of complicated. I suffered an injury that had me out of school for some time and had a moderately long recovery process involving surgery and physical therapy. This took place during my junior year in which I was taking college classes. I failed one of them due to the professor not giving me an extended period to make up work, causing my GPA to be very low (below a 3.0). Now that it is my senior year, I am working very hard to get all a's this year which has been pretty successful, as well as graduating with an honors diploma. I did well on my standardized tests and will be submitting those scores. My counselor also advised me to write a letter to the admissions counselor of each school explaining why there was a dip in my GPA. My dream school is IU Bloomington to major in Elementary Ed, but I am beginning to worry that I don't have a chance. Is there anything else I could possibly do to increase my chances? I've tried many different admissions calculators and some say I'll be fine while others say I'm screwed.
