Is doll collecting as a extracurricular ridiculous?
Answered

I'm 14 years old and I've collecting dolls since 12, it's truly my passion. When I eventually apply to college, I do want to put down doll collecting as an extracurricular but I'm not sure if colleges would take me seriously. Since I do want to apply to a mathematics or comp sci major, I'll be compared to other students who were interns for NASA or something.

You can put a total of 10 ECs on your common app and rank them by importance, so that would be an option. If not, it surely is something you can write your essay about if you can connect collecting dolls to your preferred major cleverly! That would be a way to mention it if you don't want to specifically mention it as an EC and it would definitely grab the reader's attention. However, it will be useful to have some ECs that relate to your major of choice to create a "spike" in your application. But don't stress over it just yet and continue to do what makes you happy.

I think if you have an extra slot on the EC part of the common app you can but put it as your last one. I think you can put it since it is something you care about and spend time doind
